Ok, it probably won't change everything. Check that, it won't change too much. Wait, I think it was just more of the same.
I really want to believe that Obama means what he says. I truly hope that he wants to work together on healthcare reform with all that want to work with him. In the end, all of the people in that chamber last night were politicians. His speech did not make this issue any less political, and for that reason it was at least a mild disappointment. Obviously Bonehead Wilson's remark was absurd, as was Pelosi's arrogance that is quite evident in her smirks each time the President speaks to Congress.
I am amazed that more people aren't getting tired of this. I suppose that speaks to the seriousness of the issue AND to our love of a good fight here in America. Watching the speech constituted my weekly dose of politics. Now I must go back to actually moving real healthcare reform along by working on improving the health of my local community. I think this country is lucky to have the thousands of people out there working on local initiatives despite the embarrassing behavior coming out of Washington.

I put up a post you will enjoy.

And about the president... I think he gets it more than most people realize, but his job is herding cats. As he said, universal health care has been a presidential objective since Teddy Roosevelt's time.
By adding together private insurance, company group policies, the VA, Tricare, Medicare, Indian Health Service, the Armed Forces Medical Corps that also take care of dependents, and FEHBP... (any others?)...we got almost everyone covered some kinda way. Except forty million or so...
But not to worry, we have a Public Option already in place. It's called Medicaid, and it's gaining membership daily as more people sink to the bottom of the economy. Let things alone and the pool of uncovered people will shrink as the rest eventually qualify for Medicaid. That way payroll and income taxes will take care of everyone.
I'm reminded that Jesus healed a lot of folks, but in time they all died. Likewise, the final outcome of all treatments remains the same.
'Scuse me. I'll stop.
